Deep Cleanings

If you have periodontal disease, it is necessary to remove all of the plaque and calculus (tartar) that has gotten down under your gums to restore you back to good health. Sometimes this requires more than one visit, depending on how much there is and how deep it is. A deep cleaning is the first step. After all of the plaque and tartar is removed, your gums may need to be assessed at a follow up visit. At that visit, the Doctor will determine if they are back in good health, or if the gums and bone need to be recontoured so that plaque cannot get so deep in your gums that you cannot reach it with a toothbrush or floss.
